Has Markle's past created tension?
Markle's background, as a divorced American woman who has lived through quite a bit of family drama, coupled with her previous acting career, is certainly not the typical stock of a royal family member. Clearly, however, none of her background impacted her entry into royal life.
Royal expert Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to Prince Charles and Princess Diana, told the Daily Mail that 'Meghan has a dysfunctional past and family', including her divorce, which was reportedly a matter of concern for the Royal family.
Although it seems her past is nothing to worry about - Prince Harry's happiness being the main priority - Arbiter believes Princess Diana would have been a huge support for Markle, if she were still alive.
He shared: 'Meghan was once married and worked in a pretty fickle business, so Diana would have put her at ease and told her not to be careful, that she'd had the media all her life . ''
He gave this insider view, noting, “Diana would have gotten along with Meghan…She knew the way the showbiz crowd worked and Meghan came from this world. It's very hard to get rid of 15 years in showbiz overnight. It will happen over time and Diana would have been a good guide for her.
Diana may have provided 'a soundboard'
Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana's former bodyguard, shared some of his insight into how Diana would have welcomed Markle. He noted: “Diana would have liked her son to marry a divorced American, a woman of mixed origins. I can see Diana putting two fingers to the monarchy on the strength of that one, saying, 'This is fantastic, this is the future of this family, this is how it should be.' '
Regarding the family drama that has plagued the Duchess, Arbiter thinks Princess Diana wouldn't have inserted herself into the private matter, sharing: 'I don't think Diana would have interfered in any issues Meghan has had with his father. She would have seen it as a relationship between father and daughter.
Regarding the negative media attention and criticism on social media that Markle faced, the royal insider believes that Princess Diana could have offered reassurances to the Duchess. He noted: “I think if Diana had been around she could have helped Meghan, not so much in the fight against negative media, but just as a sounding board.
He added: “I think a woman finds it easier to talk to another woman. Meghan is probably talking to her mother, but Diana would have been that friendly face on this side of the Atlantic.
The queen welcomed
The Queen is believed to have made an 'unusual effort' to welcome Markle into the family, which is certainly a sign that the Duchess' past is of no concern.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe told Fabulous Digital: 'Meghan seems to have forged a particularly close relationship with the Queen if you compare that to when other people married into the Royal Family.
He noted: “The Queen last year, during the first months of Meghan's entry into the Royal Family, made a special and slightly unusual effort to welcome her. Unusual in the context of traveling on the royal train to make a royal engagement [in Cheshire]. I'm 99% sure she never offered Kate that offer. »
Larcombe had a few theories about it, one of them being that “Meghan really burst onto the scene in a way that Kate obviously didn't. Everyone knew Kate and her family long before they got engaged.
'Perhaps also because of lessons from the past where Princess Diana felt pretty much like an outsider in the royal family,' he added.
