The Palace's confirmation came after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's friend Omid Scobie shared the news on Twitter.
The Palace's statement read: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.
The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
According to a royal biographer, the decision for Meghan Markle not to attend was influenced by Archie's fourth birthday, which also falls on May 6. Prince Harry's trip to the UK is expected to be brief, with him only attending the coronation ceremony.
