The 54-year-old actor, who has two children with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and two with her current husband Keith Urban, shared that she would have loved to have a larger family, but wasn't given that choice.
"I wish I'd had more children, but I wasn't given that choice," Kidman said. "I would've loved 10 kids."
Despite not being able to have more children of her own, Kidman mentioned that she has found fulfillment in mothering her six nieces and nephews and being a godmother to 12. "But that's OK because I get to mother other children," she said.
"I love mothering, I love kids: they're quirky, funny and unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way."
Kidman has been candid about her struggles with fertility and her desire to have children in the past. She has previously shared that her first pregnancy at the age of 23 was ectopic and that she also suffered a miscarriage years later, shortly before her divorce from Cruise.
"I know the yearning. That yearning. It's a huge, aching yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough," she said.
Despite these challenges, Kidman was able to become a mother through adoption and later, with the birth of her daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. She expressed her gratitude for meeting Urban, her husband of 15 years, calling it an "absolute miracle".
This isn't the first time Kidman has opened up about her desire to have had more children. In a 2019 interview with People, she shared that she often thinks about what would have happened if she met Urban earlier in life. Despite her regrets, Kidman has found joy in being a mother and a maternal figure to those around her.
