Prince Harry made the decision to attend his father King Charles' coronation without his wife, Meghan Markle.
Their relationship with the Royal family had suffered after they publicly criticized them in interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and Harry's memoir Spare.
Despite the criticism, the couple received an invitation to the crowning ceremony, and after much speculation, it was announced that Harry would attend.
However, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Meghan would not be joining him, and she would stay back in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
An expert, Kinsey Schofield, stated that Harry's association with his family was crucial to his efforts to become a mover and shaker in the United States.
According to Schofield, Meghan's absence was likely due to self-preservation, as she may not be positively received at the coronation. The expert claimed that Harry's attendance without Meghan could garner a less offensive response.
The Palace released an official statement confirming Harry's attendance at the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.
The statement also announced that Meghan would remain in California with their children. Overall, Harry believed it was essential to maintain their presence and image as a couple, even with the controversy surrounding them, and attended the coronation accordingly.
