Prince Harry's Afghanistan Deployment: Why Not Prince William?

Queen Elizabeth had expressed her desire for both her grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, to serve in the military in Afghanistan.

While Prince Harry ended up serving in the war, Prince William was not able to join. According to a report by The Sun, Prince William was eager to serve, but due to his future role as King, he was not allowed to participate.

Former Army head General Sir Mike Jackson, who was interviewed for an upcoming ITV documentary, revealed that the Queen had made it clear that her grandsons should fulfill their duty to their country. However, it was decided that the risk of harm to Prince William, as heir to the throne, was too great.

On the other hand, Prince Harry was allowed to join the war, following in the footsteps of his uncle Prince Andrew, who also served in the military during the Falklands War.

The report highlights that Prince Charles, the then Prince of Wales and future King, was also forbidden from serving in a war.
