The Duke of Sussex, aged 38, is apparently in a difficult position as he has to choose between attending the Coronation ceremony and spending time with his wife.
Royal commentator Daniela Elser points out that Harry is in a tight spot and must decide whether to race back after the coronation to be with his son, or use the trip to try to mend fences with his father, who he has had a strained relationship with.
However, the invitation for Harry to attend the Coronation could be seen as a glimmer of hope for a reconciliation between the father and son.
But according to a friend of Prince William, if Harry only returns for a few hours, it would be a massive disrespect to the royal family.
In some quarters of Buckingham Palace, leaving his father’s big day to attend a child’s birthday party may not be seen as noble devotion to his paternal obligations.
