He did not appear with other members of the family on Buckingham Palace's balcony or at the Coronation Concert in Windsor. The Mirror's Russell Myers noted that it was a "very telling" move, suggesting that if Harry's departure from the Royal Family had been less acrimonious, he may not have been relegated to the third row.
Myers added that regardless of how things have been dealt with, there are probably regrets on both sides.
Harry's appearance at the Coronation marked his first public appearance with other royals since the release of his controversial memoir Spare earlier this year. During the service, Harry was seen speaking the words "God save King Charles.
Long live King Charles. May the King live forever," while William played a prominent role, kneeling at his father's feet, pledging his loyalty, and kissing him on the cheek. George also served as a page boy, helping to carry the train of his grandfather's robes.
Harry wore what he was asked to wear for the event, which included a dark morning suit and tie, Afghanistan and Jubilee medals pinned to his suit jacket, and a Royal Victorian Order star and neck decoration. He caught a British Airways flight soon after the ceremony, but flight attendants could not discuss the details of his trip.
Harry's absence from the Buckingham Palace balcony during the finale of the day was confirmed by the Palace, which also stated that he had no formal role at the event. Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, was also absent from the balcony as he has stepped away from public life following a controversial interview in November 2019 and the controversy surrounding his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
