The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's choice sparked numerous inquiries regarding their relationship with the monarchy. Various royal commentators, authors, and historians offered their insights and opinions on the couple's decision.
However, the dynamics have shifted in the past few years, as Harry appears to be discontent with his new life in the US, and reports suggest that the couple's marriage is facing challenges.
While Meghan is said to be making efforts to establish their position and financial stability in the US, it is believed that Harry still longs for his home country, the UK, according to a source.
The source revealed, "Meghan and Harry are not aligned on several issues, and the Duke is deeply affected by his strained relationship with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William."
Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's former butler, has also voiced his thoughts and knowledge regarding Meghan and Harry's relationship, stating that the Duke "knows the truth about Meghan."
Burrell shared his views during an interview on GB News, saying, "Am I the only person in the UK who is wondering if Harry has finally awakened to the truth? Has he finally realized what his wife is truly like, despite being captivated by her beauty or something? Because we all know, except for him."
He believes that the exiled prince will ultimately return to his home country for good and predicts that King Charles, Prince William, and the British public will welcome Harry back with open arms if he decides to return to the palace.
"When this happens, and we all know it will, he will come back to the United Kingdom, and I believe his father, the King, and his brother, the Prince of Wales, will both embrace his return to the country," said Princess Diana's aide.
Burrell also mentioned that the pressures of immense media scrutiny and worldwide fame may cause cracks in the couple's marriage, explaining, "With significant media attention, criticism, and global fame comes tremendous pressure, and this couple will undoubtedly face great pressures."
He clarified that he does not personally wish to see Harry unhappy again, expressing, "I've witnessed too many tears; I genuinely want to see him happy, to witness his family thrive. However, there is a lingering doubt in the back of my mind."
Previously, Omid Scobie, a co-author of the biography 'Finding Freedom' about the Sussexes, suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may eventually reconcile with the royal family in a more family-oriented manner in the future.
