Prince Harry Describes Car Chase as Closest to Diana's Death

Earlier this week, the New York Police Department issued a statement confirming the situation surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple's travel was hindered by paparazzi, making their movements "challenging," according to the NYPD.

In the days following an intense car chase involving paparazzi photographers in New York City, Prince Harry found himself reflecting on his late mother, Princess Diana. The tragic car crash in 1997 that claimed Princess Diana's life also involved pursuing photographers.

The recent incident left Prince Harry and Meghan Markle feeling "shaken," as reported by People Magazine. It occurred on May 16 after the couple departed from the Ms Foundation's Women of Vision Awards, where Meghan received an honor for her work.

In the aftermath of the car chase, Prince Harry confided in his friends that it was the closest he had ever come to understanding the events of the fateful night his mother died. A source from the outlet mentioned that the incident was distressing for the couple, but they were relieved that everyone involved emerged unharmed. The photographers had apparently been attempting to follow the couple, wanting to discover their whereabouts during their visit to the city.

According to a previous statement, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle described the car chase as a "near catastrophic" event involving a group of highly aggressive paparazzi. The statement explained that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, were caught up in a two-hour pursuit that led to several close calls with other vehicles, pedestrians, and even two officers from the New York Police Department.

The New York Police Department also confirmed the incident, acknowledging the challenging circumstances faced by the couple during their travel due to numerous photographers. In their statement, the NYPD revealed their assistance to the private security team responsible for protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The department emphasized that although the photographers presented difficulties, the couple reached their destination without any reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests.

Amidst the turmoil, Sukhcharn Singh, an Indian-origin cab driver who transported the couple during the car chase, noted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared visibly nervous during the short journey. However, Singh also mentioned that the paparazzi were not behaving aggressively.
