While training to become a jet pilot alongside his brother in the early 2000s, Prince Harry was allowed to fight on the field in the Afghanistan war, unlike Prince William. According to Harry, his brother felt resentment towards him because of the special privileges he was afforded as a "spare" to the throne.
Recalling a joint interview with Prince William, Prince Harry describes how his brother complained about his habits, calling him a slob and a snorer. Although they laughed it off at the time, Harry now wonders if there was more to his brother's complaints.
He suggests that the Palace may have prevented Prince William from fulfilling his ambition to serve on the front lines, whereas Harry was allowed to do so.
Reflecting on the difference in treatment between himself and his brother, Prince Harry comments that as a "spare," he was allowed to "run around a battlefield like a chicken with its head cut off," whereas the "heir" was not given such freedom.
