In a written statement submitted to the court, the Duke stated that the press's unlawful information gathering and invasions of his privacy had an emotional impact on him, which ultimately influenced his split with Chelsy.
Prince Harry is one of many high-profile individuals pursuing legal action against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) over allegations of illegal information gathering, including phone hacking. The trial is currently ongoing at the High Court in London, and it's expected to last for around seven weeks. Prince Harry himself is expected to testify in June.
In the statement submitted by his lawyers, Prince Harry alleges that every time he was in a relationship, the person's entire family and often their friends were also dragged into the media spotlight, and they became the subject of unlawful activities on the part of MGN.
He also claims that this caused significant challenges in his relationship with Chelsy Davy and even made him fear for their safety.
Prince Harry went on to say that MGN's activities led Chelsy to decide that "a Royal life was not for her," which was incredibly upsetting for him at the time.
