Legal Expert: Prince Harry Has Shot at Winning Hacking Case

Prince Harry's chances of winning the phone hacking lawsuit appear promising, bolstered by the revelations he made during his testimony.

The Duke of Sussex made an appearance at the London High Court, providing evidence against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) regarding alleged unlawful information gathering.

During the second day of his testimony, Prince Harry recounted troubling incidents involving British tabloids that had placed significant strain on his personal life. While proving the case is no easy task, a legal expert holds the belief that the royal stands a chance of emerging victorious.

Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, expressed his views on the lawsuit, stating, "You never know what a judge is gonna do, but I would expect that he will be awarded significant damages because this is pretty outrageous, their conduct." Rahmani further emphasized the impact of the hacking, highlighting the personal nature of the breached information and its profound effect on Prince Harry.

Considering the severity of the offense—hacking someone's phone, which is unequivocally unlawful—the attorney predicted a substantial award for Prince Harry. The lawsuit not only involves the Mirror's parent company but also News Group Newspapers, The Sun, and the Associated Newspapers Ltd, which owns the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.

News reports indicated that Prince Harry became visibly emotional on the stand, fighting back tears as he concluded his evidence in the phone hacking case. After a poignant pause, he confessed, "It's a lot," reflecting the overwhelming nature of the situation and his deeply affected state.
