In a past appearance on "60 Minutes," Harry addressed accusations that he and Meghan were capitalizing on their titles while simultaneously criticizing the family from which they received them.
According to the New York Post, Anderson Cooper asked Harry, during a previous interview promoting his memoir, "Spare," why they didn't renounce their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Harry responded in a dismissive manner, questioning the significance of renouncing their titles. By doing so, he seemed to sidestep the allegations that he was profiting from his royal status, while disregarding the polls indicating that a majority of the UK public desires the removal of their titles.
Cooper shifted his focus to the issue of Harry's public criticisms of his family, asking why he felt the need to make such personal attacks known. Harry explained that he had attempted to have private conversations, but felt frustrated as there were consistent briefings, leaks, and planted stories against him and Meghan.
While speaking on "Good Morning America" in a separate interview, Harry admitted that it is highly unlikely he will ever leave his Montecito mansion to return to the UK and resume his duties as an active royal. He expressed his belief that even if an agreement or arrangement was reached between him and his family, external forces, potentially referring to the UK tabloid press, would do everything in their power to make sure his return was unviable.
He lamented the situation, highlighting the strain it puts on their relationship. Harry mentioned that although the family motto is "Never complain, never explain," he found it ineffective in practice.
When confronted with the idea of leaving to avoid hypocrisy, Harry asserted that he couldn't simply "get out" due to his awareness of his position and gratitude for the life he has led. He maintained that there was no conceivable way for him to extricate himself from his circumstances.
Despite the revelations made in various interviews, a Netflix docuseries, and his personal memoir, Harry insisted that he had never been the one to leak information about his family.
