Royal commentator Douglas Murray voiced these accusations against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in an interview with the New York Post. Murray began by highlighting one of the remarkable aspects of New York, stating, "One of the greatest things about New York and its inhabitants is that the city is so unimpressible."
He further expressed that when a prince and a duchess arrive in the city, they may anticipate people stopping and staring, but New Yorkers simply want to go about their business.
Murray drew a comparison to Los Angeles, where the town halts its operations when a high-profile celebrity arrives at a favorite restaurant.
Paparazzi surround these attention-seeking celebrities, and tour buses cater to fans by showcasing the residences of famous individuals, complete with hedges and gates.
However, New York City operates differently. Murray emphasized that the city's residents have no patience for such behavior as they are always busy and in a rush. When a road gets blocked due to the presence of a foreign president, New Yorkers do not wait around for a glimpse. Instead, they express their frustration and swiftly move on.
According to Murray, this was the wrong city for Meghan and Harry to stage their grand spectacle, as it is highly likely that the entire event was orchestrated for the next installment of their Netflix series.
