According to a recent opinion poll, Meghan Markle's popularity has reached an all-time low in the UK. The survey uncovered that approximately seven out of ten Britons hold a negative view of the Duchess, with her net favorability plummeting to an alarming record low of -47 percent.
This significant decline represents her lowest rating since YouGov began tracking her favorability in 2017. Shockingly, only 21 percent of respondents hold a favorable opinion of her, while a staggering 68 percent view her negatively.
While Prince Harry's favorability also experienced a modest drop of two percent, reaching -36 percent compared to April, it seems his standing with the British public has somewhat improved since January. This improvement can be attributed to the release of his memoir, "Megxit," which shed light on his personal experiences.
On a different note, Princess Anne emerges as the most popular member of the Royal Family, boasting a net favorability of 60 percent. King Charles, who ascended the throne in September following Queen Elizabeth II, saw his favorability decline to 32 percent. However, following his coronation, it experienced a slight increase to 48 percent, benefitting from a six percent bounce.
Unfortunately, Queen Camilla did not share in the coronation glory, with her net favorability taking a five-point hit and standing at a mere four percent. Although this figure is higher than when YouGov first began tracking her popularity in 2011, it is evident that the public sentiment towards her remains unfavorable.
In contrast, Prince William and Princess Kate have experienced slight increases in approval. The Waleses have net favorability ratings of 57 percent and 59 percent, respectively, indicating a positive reception from the British public.
Interestingly, the institution of the monarchy as a whole has witnessed an improvement, with favorability increasing to 25 percent since the coronation. This marks a significant jump from the 19 percent recorded in April. It appears that despite the challenges faced by individual members of the royal family, the public's perception of the monarchy as an institution has improved.
