Robbie shed light on the filming process of intim^te n^de scenes, particularly those requiring realistic portrayal of pubic hair. During the premiere of Babylon in Australia, alongside co-star Diego Calva, she made a surprising revelation during her podcast appearance.
The discussion on the Fitzy & Wippa podcast initially centered around the provocative opening sequence of Robbie's latest film when the conversation veered towards the topic of pubic hair. One of the hosts mentioned the challenges of finding actresses with authentic br^^sts and pubic hair for period filming, prompting Robbie to share an interesting fact about how it's handled.
She mentioned the existence of "merkins," which are essentially genital wigs. Robbie recalled her experience while working on the film Wolf Of Wall Street, where there was an entire room dedicated to merkins.
"I guess people would go in and pick out, you know... I'm not going to go into detail, but it was a fascinating and little-known fact about the filmmaking industry," Robbie explained.
Apart from this revelation, Robbie has previously shared amusing anecdotes about her experiences on the set of Wolf of Wall Street. One incident involved an electric cigarette, which belonged to her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, accidentally getting stuck in her "butt crack."
Having filmed several s^x scenes with DiCaprio, she confessed that they were far from being romantic, describing them as the "least romantic thing to shoot."
Robbie's latest project, Babylon, delves into similar debauchery, featuring scenes of her character snorting large amounts of white powder and wrestling with a rattlesnake. She even had to advise director Damien Chazelle to tone down the quantity of cocaine portrayed in the film.
Speaking about the production, Robbie said, "I think the only note I gave Damien... obviously, there's a lot of drugs in this movie, and I play a character who does tons of drugs. But he would have them rack up lines of coke that were just like the size of hot dogs."
Robbie also revealed that the fake drug used on set was actually a combination of baby laxative, vitamin powder, or icing sugar.
These fascinating insights into the behind-the-scenes aspects of filming intim^te scenes and recreating realistic details add another layer of understanding to the craftsmanship involved in the movie industry.
