Meghan Markel in Talks for Lead Acting Role, Ditching Harry for Money

Earlier this week, Emmy nominations were announced, and Sussex fans were disappointed to learn that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docu-series was snubbed.

While some believe Meghan should abandon her media career and venture into the world of fashion, it appears that The Duchess has no intentions of quitting. In fact, she might be on the brink of one of the most significant moves of her career.

Rumors are circulating online that Meghan is being considered for a starring role in a sequel or remake of the 1992 blockbuster film "The Bodyguard," which originally starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Now, our younger readers might not be familiar with the movie, but they probably know Whitney's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," which was featured on the soundtrack. The original film was a massive hit and the second highest-grossing movie of the year, right behind Disney's "Aladdin."

Kevin Costner, who has made a comeback on the A-list thanks to his work on "Yellowstone," is reportedly interested in reprising his role, and insiders say Meghan is his top choice as a co-star. Kevin loves an underdog like Meghan, and he's also a fan of box office hits. A source close to the situation revealed to the UK tabloid The Daily Express that this might sound unlikely since Meghan has shown little interest in returning to acting. However, the project's fascinating and tragic history might draw her in.

Back in 1997, Costner started developing a sequel to "The Bodyguard." At that time, his first choice for the lead female role was Princess Diana. The studio liked the idea of doing a "Bodyguard 2," as Costner mentioned in an interview with People magazine in 2012.

He recalled having a phone conversation with Diana, discussing the possibility of her becoming an actress. Costner fondly remembers Diana being incredibly sweet on the phone and asking if there would be a kissing scene, to which he replied positively.

Sadly, Diana's life was cut short by a car accident before she could embark on her acting career. It would be a meaningful tribute to Harry's iconic mother if Meghan were to take on this project. And hey, if she can also secure a hefty eight-figure payday in the process, all the better!
