Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials, there were suggestions that Mann was not just one of the ushers but, in fact, his true best man instead of Prince William.
However, Harry was absent from Mann's actual wedding last weekend. Mann tied the knot with osteopath Isabella Clark at St. Peter's Church in Stutton, Suffolk. Unfortunately, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not attend the ceremony.
Notable guests included Thomas Van Straubenzee, a close friend of Prince Harry and the godfather of Princess Charlotte, who was accompanied by his wife Lucy, an assistant head at Thomas's school, where Charlotte and Prince George attend.
The level of closeness between Harry and Mann remains uncertain, as their friendship initially blossomed during their time at Sunhurst, where they both served in the Blues and Royals. It is unclear whether Mann invited Harry and Meghan to his wedding, but many believe that the couple was not invited due to Meghan's actions at Jack's dinner.
In his memoir, Harry acknowledges that he fell out with some of his old friends after publicly criticizing the royal family on television. Following the memoir's release, Harry's old friends began speaking out. According to a now-deleted article from The Daily Mail, ahead of a casual dinner hosted by Jack Mann, a close friend of Harry and not an usher at their wedding, Mann was surprised to receive a list of demands from Meghan.
She wanted to know details about the women's attire, the seating plan, and other similar details. Mann was taken aback and chose not to respond to the unusual request. However, a second email followed, indicating Meghan's particular interest in knowing the names of the attending wives and girlfriends. Once again, Jack declined to provide any information. This was not a networking dinner for Hollywood executives in the Hollywood Hills with the likes of George Clooney; it was a simple gathering with a few friends.
Despite this, both Harry and Meghan attended the dinner, but Megan appeared displeased and left before dinner was served. After such behavior, it is unlikely that Meghan received a wedding invitation from Jack. Additionally, inviting Harry alone without his wife would not be considered courteous, as Meghan would not let Harry attend without her.
As a result, Harry did not receive a wedding invitation, while Thomas Van Straubenzee, who chose a different side, was in attendance. It was evident that Harry's relationship with his old friends had been strained, as William had made it clear that anyone who was Harry's friend was no longer a friend of his.
Harry's old pals did not need this reminder, as Harry had already betrayed their trust. In another chapter of Harry's memoir, he revealed that he was not William's best man, despite the public announcement. William's friends James Meade and Thomas Van Straubenzee served as the best men. Harry admitted that the public had been misled, and the palace had to make the false claim due to public expectations.
In truth, William did not want Harry delivering a best man speech, as he believed it was risky to give him a live microphone and the chance to speak off-script. William was concerned that Harry might say something wildly inappropriate, and, to be honest, he wasn't entirely wrong.
