Prince Harry Regrets as William Takes His Place at Charity Guards Polo Club, While Harry Faces Millions in Debt with His Controversial Wife

Recently, Prince William was seen stepping in for Harry at the charity Guards Polo Club. This club holds significance for Harry as it was a club he used to be a part of before moving to California with his wife.

Due to their financial troubles amounting to millions of dollars in debt, Harry had to give up playing polo. Both brothers have been playing polo since their teenage years and still engage in the sport. However, experts note that William and Harry have distinct playing styles.

Polo has been a beloved sport among members of the royal family for centuries, with Prince Philip and King Charles being enthusiasts. King Charles retired from polo in November 2005, shortly after turning 57.

William and Harry followed in their father's footsteps and took up the sport, having grown up watching and supporting him. While Harry joined a club in California after moving to the U.S., William participates in the annual Royal Charity Polo Cup.

Experts point out that the brothers, who have had limited contact this year due to the Sussexes' public attacks on the royal family, exhibit contrasting styles on the polo field. Express UK takes a closer look at the polo rivalry between the two brothers. The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the annual charity polo match, which raises funds for causes close to their hearts. Kate Middleton joined Prince William on the field for an afternoon of polo fun.

The match took place at the Guards Polo Club, a short distance from their home at Windsor. The event raised funds for nearly a dozen charities supported by the royal couple. Some of the causes included homelessness charities championed by Prince William and Kate's long-standing support for East Anglia Children's Hospices and her Baby Bank charity. The Royal Charity Polo Day accumulated over $1.2 million for these deserving causes, bringing the total amount raised in 12 years to over $15 million.

Princess Kate was captured on the sidelines, appearing relaxed in sunglasses while holding a glass of champagne. She enthusiastically cheered on her husband, raising her arms in support. She also engaged in conversations with Peter Phillips, Prince William's cousin. Meanwhile, Prince William stood out on the field during the initial two periods, with Princess Kate remaining by his side, watching the opening moments of the tournament.

As the match progressed into the third chukka, William took to the field and played defensively, sporting the number four on his jersey. During one instance, when his opponent went unpunished for a foul, the commentator humorously remarked over the sound system that the referee wouldn't be on the honors list next year. There was a moment when Prince William had a chance to score, and the commentator's enthusiastic commentary captured Princess Kate's attention, momentarily shifting her focus from their conversation to the field. Unfortunately, the shot went wide, and the commentator jokingly blamed a mischievous mole that popped up through the grass.

Later in the game, the Prince of Wales scored a goal, leading to a tie and leaving his polo stake broken in the process.
