Archewell Assets Entrusted to WME, Infuriating Meghan Markle as Financial Move Traps Her in Pursuit of £2.3M

We've all heard the news about the Sussexes acquiring the rights to adapt a seemingly complex romance into a Netflix film series. Initial reports indicated that Meghan and Harry themselves had invested in the rights for Carly Fortune's "Then Meet Me at the Lake," a story that bears some resemblance to their own lives, involving a character who loses a parent in a car accident.

However, it now appears, according to an insider speaking to Page Six, that it was Netflix itself that secured the rights for them to produce a film adaptation, utilizing their R-Tool Productions arm. The prevailing notion is that Netflix was the one to purchase the rights for the hefty sum of £2.3 million.

Curiously, there have been recent rumblings suggesting that Meghan and Harry may be facing financial challenges, to the extent that they had to allow Netflix to acquire these rights due to their financial constraints. Supposedly, they relinquished a substantial portion of their future earnings in exchange for Netflix covering the acquisition costs. Netflix might not even intend for them to be directly involved in the production; instead, this could be a strategy to recoup some of the funds they previously advanced to the couple.

Meghan and Harry have reportedly chosen to step back from active production involvement to focus on family and humanitarian endeavors, opting to sell the book rights to Netflix, which will proceed with production. It's possible that this move is aimed at preserving their public image, while talent agency WME could emerge as a major beneficiary, particularly if they take control of Archewell's assets.

There's speculation that WME aims to transform Archewell into a full-fledged production company, and their connection to Netflix could have facilitated the deal with the book's author, with Archewell listed as the producer. However, it remains unclear if Meghan and Harry will have any significant input in the production process beyond having their names associated as producers, given their lack of experience in film production.

Interestingly, Netflix is no stranger to creating fictional portrayals of the royal family, as seen in the immensely popular series "The Crown." The upcoming sixth season will depict a pivotal moment in royal history, Princess Diana's tragic car accident. Nevertheless, an executive producer of "The Crown" has reassured that they will handle this sensitive subject matter with care.

In light of these developments, some have questioned Harry's silence regarding Netflix's portrayal of sensitive events, especially since he previously expressed a liking for "The Crown." Critics have pointed out the potential hypocrisy in his reluctance to comment, speculating that his multi-million dollar contract with Netflix may be a contributing factor. Money talks, and it's where a substantial portion of his income currently originates.

So, the question arises: will Harry remain quiet on the portrayal of sensitive events, or will he speak out despite his financial ties to Netflix?
