Why did "Barbie" change its protagonist?
A few months after becoming involved in the "Barbie" project, Schumer announced that she would not be involved in the production due to "scheduling conflicts." In fact, the audition of the actress had been received with harsh criticism, such as insults, on social networks. “They suffer more than we will ever understand,” Schumer said of the trolls she commented against her.
When news of Schumer's retirement became known, the comments on social media turned positive. People agreed with the actress's decision.
Why did Amy Schumer leave "Barbie"?
On the television show “Watch What Happens Live”, Amy Schumer stated that she was excited for the premiere of “Barbie”: “I can't wait to see the movie, I think it looks amazing”.
"At the time, we said they were scheduling conflicts... That's what we said, but actually there were creative differences."
“The idea that that's what every woman should want…she should have said right then and there, 'You've got the wrong girl.' I felt like I was letting my team down by not being Barbie. They definitely didn't want to do it the way I wanted to, the only way I was interested in doing it," the actress said.
"There's a new team behind it and it seems like it's very feminist and cool, so I'm going to watch that movie," she added.
