Duke of Norfolk's 'Sticky' Remark to Meghan Markle; Theft Charges Looming: Harry Unperturbed

Duke of Norfolk's 'Sticky' Remark to Meghan Markle; Theft Charges Looming: Harry Unperturbed

Arendelle Castle: A Historic Haven for the Duke of Norfolk's Lineage spanning 850 years. This month, Andrew Lewis, the Castle Manager, shares his excitement about the upcoming event – the return of Illyria to Arundel Castle to present Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" this August.

The grandeur of the castle and its gardens adds to the romantic ambiance, transporting the audience to the enchanting world of Shakespeare's timeless comedy. As an open-air theater production, it offers a unique chance to embrace the beauty of nature and literature. Everyone is invited to join us for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and merriment.

This performance is part of the 2023 Arundel Festival of the Arts, an event that took place in the same picturesque hills of Sussex that were once frequented by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of the region. Arundel Castle, the residence of the Duke of Norfolk, and the Goodwood estate in West Sussex, home to the Duke of Richmond, have brought an unofficial distinction to Sussex – a historic county now hosting a remarkable concentration of Dukes.

The place boasts a treasure trove of antiques, though Marshall laments that during the Sussex couple's visit, several antiques mysteriously vanished. Over 260,000 items from the Royal Collection can be perused on the Royal Collection Trust website, categorized by creator, commissioner, subject, material, technique, location, date, and catalog number. Comparing the current figures with records from that time, it is clear that some artifacts are amiss.

The alleged theft raises questions about accountability – behavior like this from an untitled person would warrant prison time. However, the royal title has seemingly provided immunity. Marshall's frustration is evident; he expressed his exasperation over the stolen artworks, pointing out that their actions would likely go unpunished due to turning a blind eye to their thievery.

Amid the raid, dozens of smaller items, including paintings, silver, sculptures, and porcelain, were taken. Fortunately, around 140 items were later recovered from a storm drain. The estimated value of £4 million reported by the art newspaper might rise further.

For those seeking an enchanting experience, Arundel Castle offers Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" in its captivating gardens. Tickets are available on their website, priced at £22 per adult and £16 for children aged 8 to 16. The performance is a delightful spectacle suitable for audiences of all ages.
