Prince Harry is set to attend the Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, next month, including the closing ceremony on September 16th. His wife, Meghan, will join him later. However, royal biographer Angela Levin claims that some involved with the Invictus Games wish to distance themselves from the couple.
Levin mentioned on GB News that organizers have expressed concerns about the Sussexes taking the spotlight away from the event. She stated, "They're going to use them as publicity for themselves. I mean, they loved Harry... but now he's turned it into making it more important than he is."
Levin also suggested that some individuals in Canada are trying to halt the 2025 edition of the Games because they don't want the Sussexes involved. According to Levin, "People in Canada have contacted me to say that they're trying to stop the 2025 one because they don't want it anymore with them. They've got to leave."
While Prince Harry is expected to visit London before heading to Germany, Meghan will not be present at the WellChild Awards on September 7th, as she reportedly has prior commitments with their children.
Levin also commented on Meghan's presence in the UK, claiming that she avoids the country because she feels unwanted. "She doesn't like it here in the UK, and I think somebody told me that she knows that she's not at all liked here, so she's keeping away," Levin remarked.
Despite the controversies, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed their attendance at the 2023 Invictus Games. The Duke founded the international adaptive sports competition in 2014, inspired by his visit to the 2013 Warrior Games in the United States. The Games are known for highlighting the positive impact of sports on the physical, psychological, and social well-being of military service personnel and veterans.
