Morrison portrayed Zoey Pierson, a romantic interest of Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor), during the sixth season of the series. She has now candidly expressed a regret regarding her character's role, wishing that Zoey had played a more significant part in the show's storyline.
In an interview with Parade, Morrison expressed her sentiments, saying, "I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't cast as the mother on How I Met Your Mother. I've been a fan of the show since its inception."
She further explained, "When I joined the cast, I was genuinely excited to be a part of it, especially given the opportunity to have a substantial character arc."
Reflecting on her experience, Morrison praised the positive work environment on the set of How I Met Your Mother, calling it her "favorite television project in terms of the incredible people, crew, and work hours."
Despite her fondness for the show, Morrison acknowledged that she didn't entirely fit the mold for the role of the mother. She commented, "Although I would have loved to take on the role of the mother, I was aware from the beginning that my character didn't align perfectly with the intricate pieces of the story they had already established."
Addressing her absence from the iconic yellow umbrella and other key elements associated with the mother character, Morrison remarked, "I knew I wasn't the mom."
She added a positive note, stating, "However, I had the pleasure of meeting Cristin Milioti, who portrayed the mom, and she's an incredibly sweet and wonderful person. In the end, I thought, 'Well, he certainly found a great wife!'"
Currently, Morrison captivates audiences with her portrayal of Emma Swan in Once Upon a Time, a series airing on ABC in the US and Channel 5 in the UK. Recent reports also indicated that Morrison and her co-star Sebastian Stan from Once Upon a Time have ended their real-life romance.
