In his memoir, "Spare," the Duke of Sussex recalled a conversation with King Charles about his post-college plans. He expressed his desire to work at a ski resort, particularly the one in Lech am Arlberg, which held fond memories of his visits with his mother.
"I'd talked seriously for several years about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg, where Mummy used to take us," he revealed. His intention was to work at the town's beloved fondue hut, a place cherished by his mother. His attachment to this idea did not sit well with King Charles.
"I wanted to work at the fondue hut in the center of town, which Mummy loved. That fondue could change your life. (I really was that mad.) But now I told Pa I'd given up the fondue fantasy, and he sighed with relief."
Prince Harry recounted that his father had used a stern tone during their discussion about his career path, particularly when he expressed his ambition to become a ski instructor.
"I was taken with notions of becoming a ski instructor… Pa tensed again," Harry explained, noting that his father gave hints of disapproval.
"'Out of the question. OK. Long pause. How about… safari guide?'" Prince Harry suggested, to which King Charles allegedly replied, "No, darling boy."
However, after completing his studies at Eton College in 2003, Prince Harry embarked on a different path. He spent a year traveling and later joined the army, where he served as a Captain and went on two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
