Prince Harry's return to the UK is scheduled for September 7, which holds significant meaning as it marks the eve of the first anniversary of the late Queen's passing. Last year, Queen Elizabeth II peacefully passed away at the age of 96 while at Balmoral in Scotland. It is anticipated that King Charles and Queen Camilla will observe the first anniversary of her death discreetly at their Balmoral residence.
As a devoted patron of WellChild for 15 years, Prince Harry has been a regular attendee of the charity's annual awards ceremony. However, Meghan's absence at this year's event is expected. She had made her first appearance at the awards alongside Harry in 2018, and during their visit in 2019, Prince Harry made an emotional revelation about Meghan's previous pregnancy while delivering a speech.
Last year, Meghan was scheduled to join her husband at the WellChild Awards. Unfortunately, the ceremony coincided with the day of the Queen's passing, prompting the couple to withdraw from the event. Prince Harry, instead, headed to Scotland to be with other members of the royal family during that time of mourning.
The charity awards ceremony will take place just a few days prior to Prince Harry's Invictus Games, which are set to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, from September 9 onwards, spanning eight days. Prince Harry expressed his admiration for WellChild's work, stating, "For nearly 20 years, WellChild has been transforming the lives of children and young people across the UK, providing critical care that prioritizes the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of these individuals and their families."
During the event, Prince Harry will have the opportunity to meet each award recipient and their families at a pre-ceremony luncheon. He will also present the Inspirational Child award, which is bestowed upon a child between the ages of four and six, and deliver a speech.
