Renowned royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams suggests that the Waleses are expected to embrace a slightly heavier workload, given their new titles, which carry a unique significance. He stated, "I would think William and Catherine might well take on more, those they have taken on certainly have a unique cachet," in an interview with the Daily Express.
Fitzwilliams also alluded to an impending shift in the royal landscape. "After the Queen’s passing, and with the Sussexes and Andrew no longer participating in royal engagements, the Palace announced a review of royal patronages. Expect fewer royal engagements due to a reduced number of working royals under the age of 70," he explained.
According to the comprehensive Gert’s Royals website, which is a veritable encyclopedia of royal activities, the couple has already completed 40 joint engagements this year. Fitzwilliams pointed out that while this number might seem relatively low in comparison to Princess Anne's extensive engagements, Prince William and Kate Middleton have a unique ability to enhance the visibility and importance of the causes they support.
For instance, Prince William's Earthshot Prize for environmental conservation and his campaign against homelessness, as well as Kate's work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, have demonstrated their commitment to pressing global issues.
Despite their impending increased responsibilities, the couple has made it clear that they prioritize family. This summer, Prince William and Kate Middleton have intentionally set aside time to spend with their children in the UK.
As a royal insider disclosed to OK! Magazine last month, "The Prince and Princess of Wales have made it very clear that their children are their priority this summer holiday. They have blocked off much of the summer so that they can spend time with the children in the UK."
