Schofield pointed out that Harry's pursuit of a new life in the United States may not have unfolded as he envisioned. She suggested that he may have lacked the deep intellectual understanding and historical grounding necessary to fully comprehend the magnitude of the changes he was undertaking.
She noted, "I think it’s been an incredibly difficult journey… I don’t think Harry has many assets, I don’t think he had the intellectual acumen and probably grounding in history, bizarrely, to understand just what he was trying to achieve."
Schofield recognized the impulsive nature of Harry's decisions, driven by his desire to quickly establish a new path outside the royal family. She acknowledged that while these choices have proven challenging, they have also been financially lucrative.
Reflecting on the consequences of stepping away from the royal institution, Schofield explained that Harry inadvertently placed himself in a position where he may now be grappling with the repercussions of his decisions.
She continued, "We have to own when you’re part of the Royal Family, the building bricks that come with the institution mean you are greater than the sum of your parts which means that by definition, Harry outside royalty is less than the sum of his parts had he stayed in the institution."
Schofield concluded with empathy for Harry, recognizing the unique challenges he faces as someone born into a role and then choosing to step away from it. She observed that this reality might now be sinking in for him, emphasizing the complexity of his journey.
