In one of the memoir's excerpts, Harry recalls the following conversation with Charles: "He [Charles] said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn't want... her. He started to lay out his reasons, which I found nonsensical and disrespectful, and I wasn't going to stand for it. I told him never to speak about my wife in that manner.
He stammered, apologizing, saying he simply didn't want too many people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn't coming, he said, so Meghan shouldn't either. To me, that settled the matter." Interestingly, royal expert Robert Jobson offered a revealing perspective on the 'real motivation' behind Charles's decision.
According to Jobson, King Charles asked Kate not to attend to create parity for Meghan. The monarch allegedly reasoned, "If Catherine doesn't come, Meghan can't attend either. It's not appropriate for wives to be there."
However, the Daily Mail's report suggests a different narrative, stating, "Harry was insistent that Meghan accompany him to Scotland as the Queen's health declined. But the King privately wished to convey that Meghan was not welcome. Instead of telling Harry directly, he personally requested Kate to stay back, in an attempt to be fairer to Meghan."
