Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Facing Financial Woes as Netflix Revokes Deal Amidst Back-to-Back Failures

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Facing Financial Woes as Netflix Revokes Deal Amidst Back-to-Back Failures

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received a warning about the transitory nature of success, especially in America. This caution comes in the wake of the Duke's new Netflix documentary failing to secure a spot in the top 10 shows on the streaming platform.

"Heart of Invictus" follows various athletes as they train for the Invictus Games, an event initiated by Harry in 2014 for wounded or injured service members. The documentary also features candid moments with Meghan Markle supporting the Duke.

Harry's latest project is part of a series of content releases by the Sussexes as part of their £80 million deal with Netflix. However, the documentary stirred controversy upon its release, with Harry seemingly making another swipe at the Royal Family, claiming that no one helped him when his life unraveled after returning from active service in Afghanistan.

Now, the documentary faces another challenge by failing to secure a top spot on Netflix's most-watched shows. Tom Bower, a U.S. author and royal biographer, predicted in an interview with the Daily Express that the couple's popularity could soon wane. He stated, "Dave Harry and Megan got their own brand, the question is how long they can sustain it. The Sussexes have enjoyed a successful period, but the good times may be coming to an end."

Bower emphasized that such success can be fleeting, especially in the American entertainment landscape, where trends can quickly change. He noted that while Netflix, Spotify, and their book deals brought significant financial gain and publicity, sustaining their appeal could prove challenging.

Newsweek reported that Harry's five-part passion project, "Heart of Invictus," failed to break into Netflix's top 10 streaming charts in both the U.S. and Britain since its release. Although exact viewership figures have not been disclosed, the absence from the top 10 rankings is telling.

Meghan's TV legal drama, "Suits," recently acquired by Netflix, has consistently held the top spot on the U.S. streaming top 10 for seven consecutive weeks, according to Variety.
