Author of "After Elizabeth: Can the Monarchy Save Itself?" and renowned royal historian Dr. Ed Owens recently gave an exclusive interview to GB News. He talked about the ideal strategy the Royal Family ought to use as long as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still widely known.
Dr. Owens emphasized the importance of maintaining a dignified and composed public image. He stated, "All they can do is carry on in as dignified a manner as possible. If the Royal Family wishes to counter with any new narratives, they should be cautious not to inadvertently validate Harry and Meghan's complaints about the family."
He pointed out the extensive discussions in both the Netflix series produced by Harry and Meghan and the book "Spare," which shed light on alleged palace briefings against other members of the family. Dr. Owens stressed that the remaining members of the House of Windsor should refrain from behaviors that would substantiate these claims. Instead, they should continue with their royal duties and obligations.
Dr. Owens also delved into the "low blows" that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have directed towards other members of the Royal Family. He commented, "Harry and Meghan have resorted to a variety of tactics to air their grievances, but the Royal Family must resist the temptation to respond in kind. Harry and Meghan have publicly aired numerous family matters, and the Royal Family must maintain a dignified presence throughout these challenges."
Dr. Owens advised that responding to Harry and Meghan's criticisms would only fuel sensationalism around these stories. Therefore, the Royal Family should exercise restraint and maintain a dignified silence, even though it may prove to be a challenging endeavor.
