'Wish' is inspired by the iconic Wishing Star from Disney's 1940 classic 'Pinocchio,' a film Chris Buck fondly remembers from his childhood. The story centers around 17-year-old Asha, voiced by Ariana Dubose, and her pet goat Valentino, voiced by Alan Tudyk. Their adventure unfolds when they encounter a living wish star named Star.
When asked about the inspiration for the main character, Chris Buck replied, 'I want to say that Ariana Dubose was the person who provided the biggest inspiration when creating this character. When she sings, we know she and the character Asha are one.' While this marks Ariana's first Disney animated movie, her prior voiceover work showcases her versatility, making her a fitting choice to bring Asha to life.
Additionally, the film boasts the voices of two other notable actors, Chris Pine and Alan Tudyk. Set in the mythical fairy tale Kingdom of Roses, 'Wish' follows Asha, who, as a recent Oscar winner, is voiced by Ariana Dubose. Asha makes a wish to save her land from an unspeakable evil, drawing inspiration from the iconic Wishing Star from Disney's logo.
