Magazine had suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan had reestablished connections with Prince Edward, King Charles's brother, and his wife, Sophie, potentially paving the way for their return to the royal fold. Commentator Mark Boardman speculated, "Meghan and Harry have reconnected with Sophie and Edward, and this renewed connection may serve as their gateway back into the royal household."
However, a source has dispelled these claims, stating that there is "no truth to this speculation." According to the source, "There have been no conversations between the families mentioned regarding the matters being suggested, or in this case fabricated."
Last week, royal commentator Jennie Bond pointed out that Princess Kate had found support in Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, particularly in the wake of her public disagreements with the Sussexes. Bond noted the close bond between the two couples, despite being from different generations of royals. She highlighted how both pairs had grown closer, especially given recent events such as the passing of the Queen and Prince Andrew's controversies.
According to Bond, William and Catherine felt comfortable confiding in Edward and Sophie, as there are only a few individuals a royal can truly trust with their thoughts and emotions. She also noted that both Sophie and Catherine had relatable qualities, perhaps stemming from their experiences of leading "normal" lives before entering the royal fold.
Interestingly, the two couples reside in close proximity to each other, with Kate and William at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle Estate and Sophie and Edward in Bagshot Park, not far away.
The Sussexes are currently not on speaking terms with the Prince and Princess of Wales following several public confrontations between them. In January 2023, Prince Harry released his autobiography titled "Spare," which contained critical remarks about Prince William and Princess Kate.
