Markus Cuts Ties: Meghan Markle Ruled Out of Soho House Awards Funded by Porsche, Washes His Hands of Her

Markus has distanced himself from Meghan by excluding her from the Soho House Awards, which were generously funded by Porsche. This decision to sever ties was made recently. The Soho House Awards made a return for the second consecutive year, this time extending its reach to the United States in partnership with Porsche.

The event aimed to shine a spotlight on some of the most influential creatives globally, celebrating emerging talent, established artists making waves in their respective industries, and those who have made significant contributions to their fields and communities.

During the ceremony, Soho House founder Nick Jones took the stage to present the breakthrough entrepreneur award to Emma Watson and Alex Watson for their innovative sustainable gin brand, Renee, which is set to launch in the UK this month and will be available for purchase at Soho House.

Aurora James, recognized as a breakthrough change maker, used her time on stage to highlight the Supreme Court's affirmative action ruling in the United States and its potentially adverse effects on people of color.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the joy in sharing a space with a diverse array of creatives, including actors, entrepreneurs, designers, artists, writers, and poets—individuals who not only impressed but also inspired those in attendance.

Notably, Soho House's Chief Membership Officer, Marcus Anderson, was seen taking photographs with Alex Watson and Emma Watson. This marked a departure from his previous public appearances with close friend Meghan Markle, the last of which was half a year ago on May 16th.

Insider sources had previously indicated that the couple had distanced themselves from Marcus for three months due to some strain in their relationship. This tension was evident during Meghan and Harry's recent trip to New York, where they chose to stay at a different hotel instead of visiting Soho House.

This strain in the relationship is also believed to be the reason Meghan did not attend this year's Soho House Awards event, despite having qualities that could have earned her recognition. Instead, Emma Watson graced the red carpet for the 2023 Soho House Awards in New York City.

She opted for a Bohemian-inspired cream dress from Maria Grazia Chiuri's Dior 2023 Haute Couture collection. The dress featured a mesh top adorned with delicate pearls and opaline beads, paired with a long pleated skirt in chalk silk chiffon. Completing her look were nude suede pumps from Manolo Blahnik.

Emma Watson was accompanied by her brother, Alex Watson, who donned a navy suit and a black crew neck t-shirt for the occasion.

The Soho House Awards, sponsored by Porsche, were inaugurated in 2022 to recognize and highlight the creative endeavors of talents within Soho House's membership network. Award categories included Best Entrepreneur, Best Philanthropist, Creator of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Breakthrough Actress, and Breakthrough Designer.

This year, the awards underwent a nomination process change, allowing Global Soho House members to nominate two winners per category. Award recipients received a coveted golden Picante trophy and were featured in the Autumn issue of Soho House's print magazine, which is now available at Soho House locations worldwide.
