According to Professor Pauline Maclaran, this ambiguity poses challenges, particularly when Meghan uses her Duchess of Sussex title in pursuits such as advocating for parental leave. Maclaran suggests that relying on this title might not be the most appropriate strategy for someone aiming to establish themselves in American politics.
Maclaran elaborated, "To me, that indicates she doesn't quite know where she is. She wants to use that title as a status symbol but, for a political route in the US, using a title is really rather ridiculous. It shows she wants to keep a foot in both camps."
Instead, Meghan could have identified herself as a co-founder of Archewell or as an actress, distancing herself from her royal title. However, it appears that her royal status still plays a significant role in shaping her sense of self and identity, leading some to believe she lacks a clear and defined direction in her career aspirations.
