Meghan, the former American actress who married Prince Harry in 2018 and became the Duchess of Sussex, had a real affection for the UK before she met the Prince. In actuality, although initially acknowledging that she didn't entirely understand the significance of royalty, Meghan had a real affinity for the country of her future husband.
This connection was subtly revealed in an unearthed post from her lifestyle blog, The Tig, dating back to 2014. In this post, Meghan shared the recipe for her favorite cocktail, the Tig Cup, and dropped hints about her love for all things British as she discussed her beverage choice.
She began, "While I generally opt for a glass of rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc to quench my thirst, there are days when a cocktail is in order. Enter The TIG Cup."
Meghan went on to explain, "Given my affection for all things British, I wanted to put a spin on their signature Pimm's Cup. This is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, paying homage to the freshly harvested flavors of the season. Cheers!"
The revelation of Meghan's affinity for British culture drew an enthusiastic response from fans, with one Instagram user marveling, "How meant to be were/are they... I am over the moon; the signs were always there!" Another commenter pointed out, "It was the first thing I noticed, 'all things Brit'."
Indeed, Meghan's appreciation for London, in particular, was no secret. She often spent time at Soho House in the UK capital, a detail Prince Harry revealed in his memoir "Spare." He mentioned their first date at this members' club, stating, "She suggested [meeting at] Soho House at 76 Dean Street. It was her go-to spot whenever she visited London."
Harry also shared how much Meghan adored this secret retreat, recalling, "Sometimes she'd leave her luggage at Soho House for weeks, and they stored it without question. The people there were like family." Meghan's connection to the UK and its culture was certainly a notable aspect of her life before becoming a member of the British royal family.
