The latest initiative by the CFJ, known as the "Waging Justice for Women Fund," supports the Women Lawyers Association of Malawi. Their work includes providing free legal advice in eight clinics in some of the most remote regions of Malawi, far from roads and electricity.
During the trip, Amal actively participated in one of these clinics in the Mahino region, which is one of the 12 child marriage hotspots in the country. The event drew an audience of 1,000 people, including 800 women, and featured one-on-one consultations.
During their journey, Amal also had a meeting with the President of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, who reaffirmed the government's commitment to ending child marriage in the country by 2030 and pledged to allocate sufficient resources to the cause.
