Director Christopher Landon Confronts Meghan Markle's Controversial Post, Exits 'Scream 7

Christopher Landon, a prominent Hollywood director known for his work on franchises like Paranormal Activity, Happy Death Day, and Freaky, has made the decision to resign from his involvement in the upcoming horror sequel, Scream 7. His resignation comes as a protest against Meghan Markle's controversial posts on social media, which he perceives as anti-Semitic. In these posts, Meghan expressed her support for the Palestinian cause and accused Israel of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

As a Jewish individual and a staunch supporter of Israel, Christopher Landon took to Twitter on Tuesday to express his deep dismay and disgust over Meghan Markle's contentious remarks. He stated that he found her Instagram posts to be blatantly anti-Semitic and believed they incited hatred and violence against the Jewish people and the state of Israel. He further explained that, as a matter of conscience, he could no longer be part of a project that involved Meghan Markle in any capacity. Landon declared his immediate resignation from Scream 7 and encouraged fellow filmmakers and actors to follow suit, asserting that Meghan Markle had no place in Hollywood or anywhere else. He characterized her as a disgrace to the royal family, the British people, and humanity as a whole.

This decision by Christopher Landon follows reports that Meghan Markle had been cast in a cameo role in Scream 7, slated for release in 2024. The film represents a reboot of the iconic Scream franchise that began in 1996 and spawned four sequels and a TV series. Scream 7 is produced by Spyglass Media and distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Meghan Markle, who is married to Prince Harry and resides in California, has been openly vocal about her views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, which has seen recent escalation. She shared multiple pro-Palestinian messages on her Instagram stories, which drew widespread criticism for their perceived anti-Semitic and inflammatory nature. In one post, she posted an image of herself wearing a yellow star with the word "Megi" on it, drawing a comparison to Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who tragically perished in the Holocaust. Meghan Markle wrote that, like Anne Frank, she was hiding from "Nazis" who sought to silence her, accompanied by the hashtag #PrayForMM and #FreeMegan.

Among the critics of Meghan's posts is Harrison Ford, also of Jewish heritage, who notably played the role of Indiana Jones, a heroic character who fought against Nazis in film. Ford condemned Meghan Markle for her posts, describing them as disgusting and anti-Semitic. He urged her to feel ashamed of herself and to issue an apology to the global Jewish community.

Up to this point, Meghan Markle has not responded to the criticism or offered apologies for her now-deleted posts. She has remained silent regarding Christopher Landon's decision to withdraw from Scream 7 or her role in the film. It has been reported that Meghan remains enthusiastic about her cameo in the movie, viewing it as an opportunity to redefine her career as both an actress and producer.
