Meghan Markle Causes Uproar at WME Office as CEO Refuses $75K Fee for Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Meghan Markle faces disappointment as WME agency's CEO refuses to pay the $75,000 fee required for her to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This rejection has put Meghan and WME agency in a challenging situation. The Hollywood Walk of Fame selection committee, consisting of past honorees, carefully selects new honorees from a pool of hundreds of nominations. Established in 1960, the Walk of Fame spans 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Los Angeles, attracting tourists from around the world.

It holds significant prestige and is unique in that it can be shared with fans. Anna Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, described it as an interactive award that allows fans to sit next to and pose with the stars. Honorees are recognized in six categories: Motion Pictures, Television, live theater, live performance, radio, recording, and sports entertainment. In a recent ceremony, actor Macaulay Culkin, known for his roles in "Home Alone," "Richie Rich," "My Girl," and more, received a Walk of Fame star. He expressed his gratitude to the Walk of Fame committee, emphasizing the love and esteem he felt from the recognition.

However, Meghan Markle's nomination was met with rejection, with insiders citing two key reasons. First, nominees in the entertainment industry must have a minimum of five years of experience in their respective categories and a history of charitable contributions. Meghan did not meet the experience criteria, and questions have been raised about the authenticity of her charity work. Second, Meghan reportedly refused to pay the requested fee for her star, even though it is customary for the nominating organization, whether a fan club, film studio, record company, or broadcaster, to cover this cost. The fee, amounting to $75,000 as of 2023, covers the creation, installation, and maintenance of the star.

Hollywood's interest in Meghan Markle has waned over time, with few A-listers willing to be associated with her. Notable figures like the Obamas, George Clooney, Prince Harry's close friend, and Kevin Costner have distanced themselves. Meghan has struggled to secure work in the industry, and it seems that Hollywood has moved on from her. Many celebrities enjoy meeting the royal family and are unwilling to jeopardize future invitations to events involving the Royals.
