Meghan Markle Reportedly Excluded from Royal Christmas Lunch, Fergie Receives Favoritism

King Charles has extended invitations to members of the extended royal family for an early Christmas lunch at Windsor Castle, scheduled for Wednesday. Among those graciously invited were Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Lawrence, who were spotted arriving at the royal residence. Prince Edward, accompanied by his wife Sophie and their daughter Lady Louise Windsor, was seen behind the wheel. Additionally, Prince Andrew was photographed arriving at the event. Zara and Mike Tindall were also in attendance, along with Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, and Princess Beatrice with her husband Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Other family members invited to this festive lunch included Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Peter Phillips. The Christmas lunch is traditionally a private family gathering that occurs in the days leading up to Christmas. It provides an opportunity for members of the extended royal family who may not be joining the King at Sandringham for the main Christmas celebrations to come together.

Fans of the royal family were delighted to catch a glimpse of Lady Louise, who is currently studying English at St Andrews University in Scotland. She was closely followed by the Princess Royal, who sported a chic emerald green ensemble as she was driven by her husband Tim Lawrence. Their daughters, Zara and her husband Mike, were also snapped at today's event. Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, was seen with his wife Sophie and their children. Lady Helen Taylor also attended with her husband, and Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank could be seen driving away after enjoying the festive lunch.

Surprisingly, Sarah Ferguson, mother of Princess Eugenie and ex-wife of Prince Andrew, was reportedly invited to the banquet. She was seen leaving the event earlier than some of the other family members.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan were not invited to the royal family Christmas at Sandringham. Recent reports also suggest that Prince Harry and his close friend Hugh Grosvenor did not extend an invitation to the Sussexes for Grosvenor's upcoming wedding.

Sarah Ferguson's appearance at King Charles's cozy party might be seen as a subtle message, as it indicates that Fergie is still considered a family member despite her divorce from Andrew. Fergie, who has faced her share of scandals, handled her unfortunate choices with good humor and never actively tried to undermine the monarchy, unlike Meghan. While Fergie faced controversy for accepting bribes, she later tried to make a living on her own with books and Weight Watchers. Her appearance on "Friends" aside, Fergie understood her place within the royal family.

In contrast, Harry and Meghan's actions, including sharing sensitive information about the royal family, have made their return to the fold unlikely. Even with Prince Charles ascending to the throne, the family and institution may not be inclined to welcome them back, as they've already revealed much and played their hand in a way that doesn't align with the monarchy's interests in protecting sensitive information.
