The Duke and Duchess of Sussex terminated their royal obligations subsequent to their resignation in 2020. Following the passing of the longest-reigning monarch in September of the previous year, Charles ascended to the throne. It has since been posited that William, the Prince of Wales, has expressed disapproval of his father's conventional governance compared to his progressive vision for the British monarchy.
In conversation with the Daily Beast, the former aide remarked, "I am confident they will have differences of opinion since Charles is averse to receiving directives, and William is not particularly known for his subtlety.
"However, it is generally perceived as a constructive rivalry, rather than a deleterious one, because William holds deep respect for his father's 'status' as the leader of The Firm," the source continued.
"In essence, the monarchy operates on a hierarchical structure grounded in military principles, and when it becomes necessary, you must comply with directives from your superiors.
"This is what William and Kate comprehend, whereas Harry and Meghan could never acquiesce. They were disinclined to conform to instructions," the insider concluded.
