A Tumblr user shared an intriguing claim from an anonymous source who purportedly works for a jewelry firm used by British and foreign royal families. According to industry gossip, Meghan had an audacious request: she allegedly wanted one of the emeralds from the Delhi Durbar necklace to be recut into an emerald-cut stone and set with two emerald-cut diamonds on a rose gold band encrusted with diamonds. It's quite an extravagant demand, to say the least. However, it appears that Meghan's request was declined.
What's even more interesting is that Meghan and Harry were reportedly inquiring with various firms about stone recutting and custom-made rings using their own stones. Meghan seemed to be fixated on having a substantial, weighty emerald as the centerpiece of her jewelry. Her fascination with emeralds is quite apparent, which may explain her choice of a May wedding (emerald is May's birthstone) and Archie's birth in May as well, possibly in hopes of receiving emerald jewelry.
While some sources have suggested that Meghan wanted to customize the Lover's Knot tiara with the Vladimir emeralds, it's also rumored that she inquired about Queen Victoria's Emerald tiara, famously worn by Princess Eugenie. The idea of taking stones from historic pieces in the Crown Jewels for personal use is generally frowned upon, to put it lightly.
Now, why Meghan didn't simply have Harry commission an emerald ring from a reputable jeweler like Garrard (GS) remains a mystery. She seems to believe that she is exempt from royal rules and protocols, wanting something associated with Diana to boost her popularity. Meghan's penchant for green clothing and jewelry is seen by some as a manifestation of her jealousy and envy, effectively signaling to the world that she is "Green With Envy."
It's puzzling that Meghan, who was marrying into the royal family, didn't bother to educate herself about tiaras and their various uses. Her demands to have pieces dismantled and reassembled according to her preferences seem like an attempt to exert control and establish her own unique style. Fortunately, she didn't ask for multiple tiaras to be combined into a mega tiara, as that might have raised even more eyebrows.
