Time Magazine Replaces Prince Harry & Meghan Markle with William & Kate on Person of the Year 2023 Shortlist

Time Magazine has stirred up controversy with its decision to replace Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Prince William and Kate Middleton on the shortlist for the Person of the Year 2023 award. The prestigious honor, which recognizes the most influential individual or group of the year, has included the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge among the 10 finalists, while their counterparts, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have conspicuously been left out of the list. This omission is a clear indicator that Harry and Megan's popularity has taken a nosedive over the past year due to the relentless scrutiny and criticism they have faced for their actions and statements.

The couple, who stepped down from their senior royal roles in 2020 and relocated to the US, have been accused of hypocrisy, disrespect, and dishonesty by many observers. They have also been embroiled in various legal battles and controversies, including the release of their explosive memoir, "The Meet You Can't See," and allegations of bullying by former royal staff members against Meghan. In stark contrast, Prince William and Kate have earned praise for their dedication, professionalism, and service to the crown and the country.

As the future king and queen consort, they have gracefully fulfilled their royal duties, even amid the challenges posed by family rifts. They have actively supported causes such as mental health, environmental conservation, and early childhood development, earning approval and admiration from many royal fans and experts.

Some have even suggested that Harry and Megan should be stripped of their royal titles and privileges, given their perceived damage to the monarchy's reputation and unity. Critics have pointed out the irony and hypocrisy of the couple, who claim to seek privacy and freedom but continually seek attention and publicity.

Time Magazine's decision to include William and Kate while excluding Harry and Megan from its Person of the Year 2023 shortlist reflects the prevailing public opinion and sentiment towards these two royal couples. It underscores that Harry and Megan are not genuine icons but rather self-serving and divisive figures who have distanced themselves from their family, country, and fans. In contrast, William and Kate are seen as authentic and respected leaders who have garnered the trust and admiration of millions worldwide.

Additionally, the Fulton County district attorney, Fanny Willis, could potentially add another title to her name if awarded the Person of the Year. She and eight other prosecutors made history by indicting former President Donald Trump, marking the first time a former US president has faced prosecution. Willis's office played a pivotal role in the historic August indictment of Trump and 18 others for their alleged involvement in interfering with the Georgia 2020 election. To date, four individuals have taken plea deals in the case, while Trump himself faces 13 charges in Fulton County, including Rico charges, among a total of more than 90 felony charges in other cases across the country.

Other candidates for Person of the Year include Taylor Swift, Jerome Powell (the chair of the Federal Reserve), and the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strikers. Time Magazine's editorial team selects individuals, groups, and concepts that have had the most significant influence in the past year.
