The exclusion is not surprising, considering that Prince William is the president of BAFTA. Rumors circulate that Prince Harry has requested permission from William to attend and preside over the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards. In the context of the Prince of Wales focusing on royal duties during Catherine and King Charles's health challenges, sources suggest that Meghan Markle is behind this decision. Hollywood A-listers are expected at BAFTA, presenting an opportunity for her to connect with them on the red carpet. If Princess Catherine is not unwell, she would likely have attended the ceremony with William.

The Daily Mail reported that Prince William might miss the BAFTAs and other engagements to support his wife, who is recovering from abdominal surgery. Kensington Palace revealed that Prince Charles would stay by his wife's side, postponing official duties, including the BAFTAs on February 18th, the upcoming Six Nations, and various charity events. William, the patron of the Welsh rugby team, may also miss Six Nations games next month. Prince Hassan is speculated to step into his place.
