King Charles Fumes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Announce Pregnancy: Royal Family in Turmoil

Why did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle choose to reveal their pregnancy news during Princess Eugenie's wedding? It's been a full year since the Duke of Sussex released his memoir, "Spare," where he candidly shared insights into his life. Reflecting on the impact of his mother Diana's tragic death, his military career, and the complexities of his relationship with his father, King Charles, and his brother, the Prince of Wales. In the memoir, Prince Harry set the record straight on various media stories, especially those surrounding his marriage to Meghan Markle in 2018.

There had been long-standing rumors that the couple shared the news of Meghan's pregnancy with family and friends at Princess Eugenie's wedding on October 12, 2018. Prince Harry confirmed this in his memoir and explained the decision, stating, "We were so happy for them, and for ourselves selfishly, because Jack was one of our favorite people." The delay in their overseas tour allowed them to attend the wedding and share the happy news discreetly with family members during various gatherings.

The Sussexes chose to reveal the pregnancy to Prince Charles at Windsor before the reception. Harry mentioned in his memoir that Charles was delighted to learn he would be a grandfather for the fourth time. Meghan's pregnancy was officially announced ahead of her royal tour of Australia, with Prince William and Kate receiving the news after a drinks reception in St George's Hall at Windsor Castle. Harry recalled their reactions, saying, "They both reacted exactly as I had hoped."

Kensington Palace formally announced Meghan's pregnancy on October 15, 2018, during the Sussexes' Royal tour in Sydney, Australia, just three days after Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding. The couple's first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, arrived on May 6, 2019, at Portland Hospital in London. More recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
