Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Branded 'Grifters' and Bracing for Lifelong Tarnish

According to a royal commentator, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have endured lasting damage to their reputation after being labeled "f*****g grifters" by a Spotify executive, effectively tarnishing them for life. Following their decision to step down as working members of the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a lucrative contract with Spotify. However, their podcast, Archewell Audio, which explored gender stereotypes faced by women, received a lukewarm response from Spotify executives.

In June 2023, it was announced that the couple's deal with Spotify had been canceled. Shortly thereafter, Bill Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, unleashed scathing remarks directed at Meghan and Harry. Simmons expressed regret for not being involved in the negotiation and proposed launching a podcast titled "The F*****g Grifters" with the couple, stating, "F*** them. The grifters." He also alluded to a Zoom call he had with Harry to assist him with a podcast idea, claiming it as one of his best stories. Royal commentator Tom Bower asserted that these vehement comments from the Spotify executive have inflicted lasting harm on Meghan and Harry's reputation.

Bower conveyed to Closer magazine that the cancellation of their significant Spotify contract, which was expected to be a cornerstone of their post-royal fame, coupled with the "grifters" label, has left an indelible mark on their public perception.

Despite the setback, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still have an ongoing contract with another major streaming giant. Their deal with Netflix, which includes producing content, will remain in effect until 2025. To date, they have delivered two successful documentaries for the platform: the eponymous "Harry & Meghan" series and "Heart of the Invictus."

Reportedly, Meghan and Harry are actively working on multiple projects for Netflix, demonstrating their continued commitment to content creation.
