Prince Harry Fumes as King Charles Gifts Frogmore Cottage to Princess Kate and Prince William, Igniting Tension

Princess Kate and Prince William have reportedly turned down offers to relocate to a larger residence for two specific reasons. Recent speculations hinted at the prospect of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moving from their current home at Adelaide Cottage to the Royal Lodge, the expansive residence of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Earlier reports suggested that King Charles III was contemplating serving Prince Andrew with an eviction notice to trim down the monarchy's expenses. However, in October 2023, Prince Andrew was granted a stay of execution, allowing him to stay put for the time being.

Royal author Robert Hardman, in his new book "The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy," acknowledges that the potential move could still materialize. However, he outlines two compelling reasons why the Prince and Princess of Wales may choose to remain at Adelaide Cottage. As per a royal official, they find a sense of family and complete privacy at their current residence, without an overwhelming staff presence.

Hardman notes that while rumors circulate about a shift from Adelaide Cottage to the Royal Lodge, no such relocation is currently planned. Prince Andrew's immunity from eviction is reportedly not permanent and hinges on meeting the requirements specified in his tenancy agreement with the Crown Estate. To stay, he would need to raise funds for repairs to the Heritage-listed Windsor estate property, which would amount to approximately £2 million. Although Prince Andrew has already contributed a tenth of the sum, covering the remaining costs poses a challenge.

A family friend shared with Mail Online that no member of the royal family believes there is a realistic chance of Prince Andrew keeping the Royal Lodge in the long term. Despite uncertainties, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem content with their current abode at Adelaide Cottage, finding solace in its familial atmosphere and relative seclusion.
