Prince Harry Withdraws from Libel Suit as Meghan Markle's Alleged Deceptions Come to Light

Prince Harry has withdrawn his libel claim against the publisher Associated Newspapers, responsible for the Mail on Sunday. This decision comes after revelations that he misled both the court and the public regarding his security arrangements in the UK. The Duke of Sussex, aged 39, had initiated the lawsuit against the publisher over an article covering his legal dispute with the Home Office. The Home Office had ceased providing publicly funded police protection for him when he stepped back as a senior royal and relocated to the US with his wife, Meghan Markle. The article alleged that Prince Harry attempted to keep his legal battle with the government over police bodyguards under wraps.

It claimed he had lied and cynically manipulated public opinion by stating his willingness to cover his own security expenses. The publisher's defense countered these claims, revealing that Prince Harry hadn't personally funded his security; instead, he relied on a private security firm funded by his friend, billionaire Tyler Perry, who also provided a mansion in Los Angeles. The defense argued that the article expressed an honest opinion and did not significantly harm Prince Harry's already damaged reputation, particularly after his and Meghan's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey. The interview contained unfounded and contradictory allegations against the royal family. 

The publisher accused Prince Harry of abusing the legal process as part of a broader campaign to silence the media regarding their controversial activities. Prince Harry withdrew his claim shortly before a court deadline, agreeing to pay the publisher's legal costs of £250,000. A spokesperson for the publisher expressed satisfaction that the case had been resolved, emphasizing their commitment to upholding journalistic integrity.

The withdrawal of the libel claim represents another setback for Prince Harry and Meghan, who have faced public and media backlash since leaving the royal family. The couple has been accused of hypocrisy, greed, and dishonesty, particularly as they signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify while claiming financial independence and a service-oriented approach.

Their credibility further suffered as several claims from the Oprah interview were disputed or debunked by insiders, journalists, and even family and friends. Meghan's popularity has plummeted, and the allegations of bullying from former Royal staff members are under investigation by Buckingham Palace.
