In his memoir, Prince Harry recounted that Princess Kate sent Megan Markle a text message expressing concerns about Charlotte's dress being too big, too long, and too loose. This apparently led to tears when Charlotte tried it on at home. In response, Megan suggested that Princess Charlotte visit a tailor waiting at Kensington Palace to fix the dress. However, Princess Kate initially declined the offer and insisted on redesigning all the dresses.
Megan reportedly texted her sister-in-law, saying, "I'm not sure what else to say; if the dress doesn't fit, please take Charlotte to see the tailor—he's been waiting all day." Eventually, Princess Kate reluctantly agreed to the suggestion. Despite the resolution, the argument left Megan in tears, as per Harry's memoir. This dispute was revisited during Harry and Megan's highly publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Megan claimed that Kate made her cry and hurt her feelings. However, she also acknowledged that Kate apologized by bringing her flowers and a letter, expressing regret for the incident.
Addressing the issue, tailor AJ Mercury, who worked on the bridesmaid dresses, revealed that he worked tirelessly with three of his employees to fix the dresses after discovering that none of them fit. According to Mercury, he had no information about the measurements given to them, but their experience and knowledge revealed that all six bridesmaid dresses needed adjustments. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married on May 19, 2018, at St George's Chapel in Windsor, officially becoming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
