He expressed his intention to spend as much time as possible with his family, stating, "I have got many trips planned that will take me through the UK or back to the UK, so I will see my family as much as I can."
Earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex traveled to London for a face-to-face meeting with his father after learning about the monarch's cancer diagnosis. Throughout 2023, Prince Harry made several solo trips to the UK, with his most notable visit being in May when he attended King Charles's Coronation.
While Meghan Markle received an invitation to the event, she chose not to attend, reportedly due to concerns about potential negative reactions from crowds in the UK. In the past year, the Duchess turned down multiple opportunities to return to the UK. For instance, she did not accompany Prince Harry to the WellChild awards ceremony in London last September, despite joining him in Europe shortly afterward for the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany. Additionally, Meghan remained in the US instead of supporting Prince Harry in court during his testimony against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) in a civil case in London.
The Duchess of Sussex's most recent appearance in the UK occurred in September 2022 when she attended Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Despite her recent virtual presence in London, Meghan appears to be quite reluctant to physically return to the UK, even for a brief visit similar to Harry's earlier this month. It is unlikely that the surprise virtual appearance will serve as a catalyst for change, as Meghan's absence is more likely to reach the two-year milestone rather than come to an end.
However, given the health concerns surrounding two senior royals, the possibility of Meghan joining Harry on an unplanned trip back to the UK within the next six months cannot be completely ruled out.
